Eterna's early Kontiki divers watch with a rare black dial. The Kontiki collection celebrates the roughly 8,000-kilometer sea journey from Peru to Polynesia made by the Norwegian Thor Heyerdahl and his crew in 1947, which they completed on a primitive wooden raft. Naturally, Eterna's watches were on their wrists during the trip. Original crystal is in good condition, no big scratches or cracks. Dial has a little patina. Case has traces of age and use, and the emblem on the caseback has a lot of wear. Crown is Eterna, but it is not original to this model. Typically for early Kontikis, this watch does not have a screw-down crown. Rubber strap has been used. Service history is unknown, but the watch works well and it is running approximately +- 20 seconds per day. |
